It is in solid (not plated nor filled) 18K bright yellow gold. It features eight diamond-cut deep red almandine garnets and one larger oval-cut garnet in the center. All gems are of high quality and are set in prongs. The setting and gallery (undercarriage) are very nicely chiseled. The filigree is outstanding. The bright yellow of the 18-carat solid frame contrasts beautifully with the red-colored garnets.
Although it is reminiscent of the Victorian era jewelry, what with the garnet stones as a favorite of Queen Victoria, we date this lovely ring to the 1950s. The natural almandine gems are in a wonderful deep red color.
The ring features the French eagle head stamp, a guarantee of its solid 18-carat gold content, a maker's mark and a number (1784AL).
It is in excellent condition.
